Notre Histoire | Our history - Domaine Hubert Brochard and Sancerre

A history
of authenticity

For nearly 125 years, our roots have been firmly planted in our Sancerre parcels. This family spirit is reflected in our wines, which provides the starting point for our story in Chavignol – a story written with sincerity and courage to exacting standards.

Farming roots

Our history - Hubert Brochard

1900. At the historic heart of the Sancerre vineyard, where the three hillsides of Chavignol meet, Aimée and Hubert Brochard ran a farm where they reared goats, cultivated the fields, and, of course, tended to their vines, entirely by hand.

More than anywhere, the grapes here are nourished by a myriad of contrasting, fascinating and extraordinary soils…

A carefully preserved winemaking heritage

Our history - Hubert Brochard

The story continued with Henri, son of Aimée and Hubert, and his wife Thérèse, who together decided to expand their winegrowing activities. They were followed by three of their children who set about expanding the family estate: Daniel, Jean-François and Benoît. Joined by his wife Christiane and their two daughters, Caroline and Anne-Sophie, Daniel brought our wines to a global audience.

From generation to generation, Domaine Hubert Brochard has been driven by an unwavering commitment, proudly rooted in the land.

A fascinating new chapter

Our history - Hubert Brochard

Another wine family joined this collective adventure in 2022, when Bollinger Group acquired the estate. The winegrowing legacy of the Domaine Hubert Brochard lives on today. Our vineyards continue to thrive. With 89 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir across seven of Sancerre’s most celebrated villages, we consistently craft wines that reflect our greatest asset – our parcels.
