A family spirit

since 1900

Aimée and Hubert

The story of the estate really started when Aimée and Hubert Brochard succeeded their respective parents. Like many families at this time their daily activities were very varied; work in the fields, vine cultivation, farm management. They also had a small herd of goats that they bravely took to the steep Chavignol hillsides to graze. All the work was entirely done by hand with just the assistance of their two draft horses.

Thérèse and Henri

Their one son Henri naturally took over from his parents. Too young to leave for the war he took part in the daily tasks from a very young age. Then he met and married Thérèse. They both continued with the farm and vineyard. But over the years they especially developed vine cultivation and marketing the wine gradually leaving off mixed farming. They invested in a tractor, an unbelievably modern object at the time.

Daniel & Christiane, Jean-François, Benoit

Thérèse and Henri shared their enthusiasm with three of their children: Daniel, Jean-François and Benoît. Daniel, responsible of the estate, prospered the business promoting the wines internationally and developing the wine range. He chose to highlight the different terroirs. His wife Christiane joined him in 1982.

Over the years, the family also acquired new vines in Chavignol and around Sancerre. Daniel and Christiane are then joined by their two daughters: Caroline and Anne-Sophie.

2022 : new turning point

Hubert-Brochard has been taken over by Langlois-Chateau, which has been part of the Bollinger family group since 1973.

Already winemakers in the Appellation with two estates (Châteaux de Fontaine-Audon and Thauvenay), Langlois-Chateau wanted to consolidate its presence in the region with this acquisition.

From Saumur to Sancerre, the teams share common values such as high standards for the wines, a passion for the terroirs and the family spirit that has been present for five generations.
